VICE PRIME MINISTER, MINISTER OF ECONOMY AND SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT OF GEORGIA

Levan Davitashvili has been working as the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia since February 2022. He has also been the VicePrime Minister of the Government of Georgia since July 2021.Levan Davitashvili, as the VicePrime Minister of the Government, coordinates the activities of the Government’s economic team. At the same time, as the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Davitashvili guides the process of development of the country’s economic policy and ongoing reforms. He also supervises such areas as foreign trade and investment, promoting local production and services, tourism, management and disposal of the state property, transport and logistics, construction sector, electronic communications, development and promotion of innovative ecosystem and information technologies, energy, management of mines, etc.Prior to appointment at the position of the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Levan Davitashvili held such high positions as the Minister of Agriculture, the Deputy Minister of Agriculture and the Head of the National Wine Agency.Mr. Davitashvili is an economist holding Master’s Degree in International Business Management from Tbilisi State University and the Polytechnic University of Milan, has extensive experience in working in NGO sector, international organizations and private sector. Levan Davitashvili’s activities are associated with a number of successes in terms of diversification of wine export markets and growth of wine exports. For years Levan Davitashvili worked on the USAID Agricultural Development Project and a business consultant for the World Bank. Levan Davitashvili’s activities are associated with a number of successes in terms of diversification and growth of the wine exports.Mr. Davitashvili is married and has two children.
